About Me

When I was about ten I wanted a bonsai tree, so my cousin who had taken classes in the UK for several years helped me get started. We foraged for juniper saplings in our local area, she helped me plant and wire them, and I left a cute tree collection behind when I left home at nineteen. Unfortunately, within a year or so they were watered to death by my well-meaning mother.

Mid-way through 2017 I discovered our local shire's botanic gardens were planning to construct a bonsai display house, a first for our small town. In addition the shire formed a bonsai volunteer group, in the hopes that once the bonsai display house is constructed, the volunteers will attend to nursery and display works concerning the shire's collection of bonsai trees.

Of course, I immediately signed up. I have a lot to learn.

I have no bonsai at present - just sticks in pots. I have some plants that I've kept aside for the last couple of years, thinking one day I'll train them. These are potential bonsai trees that will be shown in this blog, and hopefully over the years these will become more than just potted plants.
